Development projects in the EcoSairila industrial area
The EcoSairila industrial area has been and will be developed through various development projects. Mikkeli Development Miksei Ltd manages the projects.
The following is a list of the development projects currently underway.
A76562, Blue Economy Mikkeli
This project aims to activate the international operations of the centre of water excellence built up in Mikkeli, along with its related companies and organisations, develop collaboration, and enhance networking. The development of networked collaboration between companies supports the development of EcoSairila’s activities as a whole.

KS1699, Southeast Finland–Russia CBC, Business in Biotechnology and Circular Economy
The framework of the project has changed in line with the situation in Ukraine and economic sanctions.
This project promotes the opportunities for bioeconomy and circular economy companies, RDI organisations, and educational institutions in Southeast Finland and Northwest Russia to make use of the EcoSairila development platform for collaboration in the border zone. The project’s objectives are to improve sustainable economic growth in the cross-border area by supporting collaboration between enterprises in the fields of biotechnology and the circular economy, where special investments are required to facilitate interactions between researchers and businesses. EcoSairila is a significant innovation and collaboration platform for the project.

This project involves demonstrations of the flows of construction and demolition waste, as well as organic waste. The aim is to support the development of businesses related to demolition and the recovery of demolition materials in the Mikkeli area and enhance the efficiency of the sorting of organic waste and business models related to organic waste cycles. The outcomes of the demonstrations will be utilised in the operations of the EcoSairila development platform.
