Services from the Centre of Excellence

The Blue Economy Mikkeli Centre of Excellence offers commercial, testing, and educational services. The Centre of Excellence’s commercial services will be finalised in 2022, and they can be divided into four main products

1. Rental services for RDI facilities and infrastructure

Customers can rent BEM’s premises and make use of equipment environments around industrial-scale material flows. All rental services are designed to suit the customer’s needs.

2. Research, testing, and piloting services

Customers using these services can order an entire research and testing process. The service can include implementation of the selected actions, laboratory services, and reporting by professionals in the field. These services are also tailored to suit customers’ needs.

3. Water sector training services

The training services include training designed for the operation and maintenance of water plants and wastewater treatment plants. Training can be arranged in a hybrid model with some remote training, but the on-the-job learning component takes place in a genuine water plant. Training can also be provided for international customers.

4. Tours of the wastewater treatment plant

BEM and the Mikkeli Waterworks work together to arrange guided tours of the wastewater treatment plant for various customer groups, including students and citizens, BEM customers, experts from the water sector, and groups of foreign visitors. Tours are designed around the needs of various target groups. Tour guests will explore the wastewater treatment plant, the methods it uses, and BEM’s activities in different depths. The guided tours include “showroom points”, which provide a practical illustration of the water purification process and the operation of the equipment.
