The Kieppi recycling centre is a joint recycling and sorting centre operated by Metsäsairila Oy and Uutta elämää Group. The brand-new waste reception centre is located in EcoSairila, the centre of the green economy and the circular economy.
Kieppi seeks to keep products, materials, and the value tied up in them in circulation within the economy for as long as possible. The aim is to minimise the amount of waste. Development work focuses on goods and raw materials in the supply chain, from procurement to reception and sorting, transportation and storage, and the development and dissemination of sales concepts for goods and materials.
Kieppi’s activities ensure that more goods and materials are reused without alteration. Maintenance and repair activities can extend the life cycles of usable goods, and materials can be given new life by using them to manufacture recycled products.
EcoSairila seeks new opportunities to make use of material flows to improve the rate of recycling, extend the life cycles of materials, enable the development and manufacture of recycled products, create business profitability for processing recycled and waste materials in the region. In EcoSairila, the raw material and utility value of waste created after consumption and use are retained, enabling materials to be reused. Consequently, Kieppi’s activities serve manufacturing industries, which receive more carefully and cleanly sorted recycled materials for use as raw materials for new products.
In addition to the industrial benefits, Kieppi aims to facilitate recycling among consumers and small enterprises by offering customer advice and operating a site that accepts goods and materials suitable for reuse, as well as those that can no longer be used. In addition to economic advantages, it is possible to realise significant environmental and social benefits.
